Luna Bronze was born in 2015. It was the era of crop tops, Tumblr, and tanning. While we miss our Tumblr accounts and (occasionally) our halter crop tops, we were stoked to say goodbye to the sun.

Because in 2014, our co-founder Maddy also faced a frightening brush with skin cancer. Once she recovered, she grabbed her best friend Rhi, and together they made a pact to ditch sunbaking for good. Because while they loved the way they felt with a tan, they knew there had to be a safer way to glow.

“After three rounds of skin cancer, I want people to stop thinking self-tanning has to be this full blown ‘tan night’ extravaganza and start seeing it as a simple, skin-loving swap for sunbaking. Something quick. Something that gives you that bit of confidence. Something that helps you to stop and think, “Why would I ever lie in the sun for this?”
