The Ultimate Cheat Sheet to Self Tanning

The Ultimate Cheat Sheet to Self Tanning

Self-tanning can be a great way to get a natural-looking tan without exposing your skin to harmful UV rays. It's important to follow a few key steps to ensure that your self-tan turns out evenly and looks natural. Here's a guide on how to apply self-tan:

1. Exfoliate your skin

Before applying self-tan, it's important to exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells and create a smooth, even canvas for the self-tanner. You can use a body scrub or a loofah to exfoliate your skin in the shower.

2. Moisturise the dry areas

Self-tan tends to absorb more easily in drier areas of the skin, so it's a good idea to moisturise your elbows, knees, and ankles before applying the self tanner. This will help to prevent those areas from turning out darker than the rest of your skin.

3. Apply the self tanner

There are a few different methods for applying self-tanner:

  • Using a tanning mitt: A tanning mitt is a special glove that you can use to apply self-tanner to your skin. This method is a good choice if you want to avoid getting self-tanner on your hands. Simply pump a small amount of self-tanner onto the mitt and apply it to your skin in circular motion, starting at your ankles and working your way up to your neck.
  • Using your hands: You can also apply self-tanner using your hands, but be sure to wash them thoroughly with soap and water afterwards to remove any excess self-tanner.
  • Using our Contour Blending Brush: Our Contour Blending Brush will ensure you have a flawless looking glow! Simply pump the mousse onto our brush, and blend away!

4. Blend the self tanner

After you've applied the self-tanner, use a clean, dry towel to gently blend the self tanner into your skin. This will help ensure an even, natural-looking tan.

5. Wait for the self-tanner to dry

Most self-tanners take about 20-30 minutes to dry, but it's a good idea to check the label on your specific product to be sure. Avoid getting the self-tanner wet or sweating while it's drying to ensure that it fully absorbs into your skin.

6. Moisturise

After your self-tan has dried, it's a good idea to moisturise your skin to help it look smooth and hydrated. This will also help to prolong the life of your self-tan.

By following these steps, you can achieve a beautiful, natural-looking self-tan that will last for several days. Just remember to always use a self-tanner that is appropriate for your skin type and to follow the instructions on the label carefully.
